Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has denied rumours that he plans to leave the Labour Party and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor said he remains committed to the Labour Party, the platform that brought him to power, and has no intention of abandoning it.
Otti firmly dismissed claims that he had a secret meeting with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to arrange his move to the APC, describing such rumours as baseless and false.
He urged the public to ignore the speculations, assuring that he would never make any political decision with significant impact on Abia State without consulting the people.
Otti also cautioned against stirring unnecessary political tension, reminding everyone that the next election is still over two years away and that the focus should remain on governance, not politics.
According to Ekeoma, the only recent interaction between Governors Otti and Uzodinma was at a birthday celebration for Uzodinma’s twin daughters after a National Economic Council meeting on April 24, an event that had no political undertone.
Ekeoma stated that while Otti’s impressive performance as governor naturally attracts political interest and speculation, any major political decisions would be made in the best interests of the people of Abia State, and always with their involvement.
