Gunmen assassinate state security official


Unknown gunmen have assassinated the  Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling for the So-Safe Corps in Ogun State, Yomi Adetula.

The security official was killed on Sunday morning in Idi-Iroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

The attack happened inside the Celestial Church of Christ’s Eagle Parish where Adetula served as a prophet.

The gunmen opened fire on the cleric during an active Sunday service and then escaped. located on Old Baggage Road shortly after 10 a.m.

Witnesses said three armed men entered the church during service.

Although they initially fired at Adetula, the bullets failed to harm him. The attackers then resorted to using weapons like hammers and machetes, inflicting severe injuries that led to his death.

The Ogun State Police confirmed the incident and described the attack as brutal.

According to the police, Adetula’s body was found covered in blood, with signs of multiple injuries caused by bullets and sharp objects. The assailants reportedly fled towards the border after carrying out the act.

Investigations have begun, and the police are working to identify and apprehend those responsible. Authorities have assured the public that normalcy has been restored in the area.
