After the abduction of Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, the suspects confessed to hiding her in a bush near her residence for over a week.
The suspects revealed that Mrs. Odumosu was held captive for nine days behind her house in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, in an area dense with palm trees, where they believed she would remain undiscovered.
“We hid her behind her house, where there are many palm trees. If someone hides there, you can’t see them,” one of the suspects explained.
According to their statement, the gang initially demanded a ransom of N40 million but ultimately settled for N20 million, which was paid by the family. Each gang member reportedly received N4.25 million.
The suspects, 27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael, disclosed that they carried out the operation with three locally-made guns and were hired by an unidentified man. “One man gave us the job, but I don’t know his name,” one suspect claimed.
Mrs. Odumosu was abducted at the entrance of her residence when the gang dragged her out of her Lexus SUV and took her through a swampy area to the secluded hideout.
During a police operation to rescue Mrs. Odumosu, two gang members were reportedly neutralized. The suspects, who were paraded by the police, have since been taken into custody as investigations continue.
