Nigerian singer Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, has addressed the ongoing feud between himself and show promoter PaulO, clarifying his stance on the matter.
This development comes after Dockaysworld reported that Vanzyvanz, daughter of renowned promoter PaulO, reacted to claims made by Spyro during an interview with Echoroom.
Spyro stated that he holds no grievances against PaulO but instead directed his criticism towards music executive Ubi Franklin.
In his words, “Can we leave Oga PaulO? Like I said, I have zero issues with him. Once my boss, always my boss. Let’s focus on Ubi Franklin. Abi y’all pretending you don’t know? Who be Ubi Franklin? A SCAM at his CORE.”
The feud stems from a series of public disputes between Spyro and Ubi Franklin over allegations of unpaid debts and unfulfilled agreements.
The controversy began during Spyro’s interview on the Echoroom podcast, where he accused Ubi of misleading him into performing at an event under false pretenses.
Spyro alleged that Ubi claimed international superstar Davido had specifically requested his performance at a birthday party, offering him $5,000. However, Spyro discovered that Davido was not involved and that the promised payment was never delivered.
According to Spyro:
“I was ambushed. Ubi told me Davido wanted me to perform, but after the show, he changed the narrative. By Nigerian standards, I charge at least N20 million for an appearance, so being offered $5,000 was already below my rate. To now find out it wasn’t Davido behind the request was a betrayal.”
In response, Ubi Franklin took to social media, presenting his side of the story and accusing Spyro of owing him 10% from a previous car purchase deal. Ubi claimed he facilitated the purchase of a car worth N100 million for Spyro and initially waived his commission. However, he insisted that Spyro had failed to honor his promise to settle the amount later.
“Enough is enough,” Ubi wrote. “Spyro called me for help to buy a car, and I connected him to the seller. As is standard, I was entitled to 10% of the deal, but I let it slide at the time. Later, during a trip to Ghana for Iyanya’s birthday, we got a $5,000 gig. I told Spyro the fee, and after the show, I reminded him about my 10% commission. He promised to settle me after paying off the car, but he has stopped taking my calls.”
The feud has escalated as both Spyro and Ubi Franklin have released private WhatsApp chats to support their claims, sparking heated debates among fans and industry insiders.
While some accuse Ubi of exploitation, others argue that Spyro has failed to honor his commitments, leaving the industry divided.
