Vice Admiral Ibot-Ete Ibas (retired), the sole administrator of Rivers State, has appointed Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).
This marks Ibas’s first official appointment since taking office following the State of Emergency declared in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
The appointment takes effect immediately.
In a statement, Ibas explained that the decision was made after carefully reviewing Worika’s qualifications, experience, and potential to perform well in the role.
He added that this move aligns with his goal of utilizing the state’s human resources to foster peace, stability, and security in the region.
Worika, who holds a PhD in Law from the University of Dundee in the UK, has held numerous positions in academia, international organizations, and government advisory roles.
His appointment comes shortly after the resignation of George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service in Rivers State.
In another announcement, Ibas thanked Nwaeke for his service during his brief time as the state’s sole administrator.
Until a new Head of Service is appointed, Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary of Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, will serve in an acting capacity.
Hahahaha I thought he don’t have the power to make appointments… I think there is an agenda here of removing Fubaras Men on the way.. I think that’s why the head of service resigned amicably.
