I’m willing to pay back my victims N729M even though it was only N128M I stole – Hushpuppi begs Judge

Infamous fraudster and socialite Raymond Abbas aka Hushpuppi, has revealed that he only made $300k(N128M) from fraud and had the bulk of his wealth from selling sneakers.

Peoples Gazette reports that Hushpuppi made the plea to pay back his victims in a letter to Judge Otis D. Wright.

In a handwritten letter addressed to Mr Wright and filed on Friday at the United States District for the Central District of California, Mr Abbas noted his humble beginnings as a salesman.

I started the business over 25 years ago, trading and selling sneakers and clothing in our then neighbourhood and went from selling clothes out of my car trunk to owning my own boutique across my city and beyond under my company, MONEABBAS NIG LTD,” Mr Abbas wrote.

Hushpuppi who claimed to have only taken to Instagram to advertise his wear and sell his lifestyle stated that he’d pay back over $1.7M(N729M) from his personal funds even though he only made a fraction of the amount from his illegal business.

“Your honour, I totally recognise the seriousness of my offence, and no amount of sorry can write(sic) my wrong in the hearts of the victims, and this is why I have decided to use my personal money to offset all of the entire $1,700,000 restitution even though I only benefited a fraction of $300,000,” Mr Abbas wrote.

Recall that in June 2020, the 38-year-old was arrested in Dubai by special agents including the Emerati police officers and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) operatives
