Imam killed as bandits invade Kaduna mosque

Bandits have launched an attack on a mosque in the Allah Babba community, Sabon Layi Village of Kakangi Constituency, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to Daily Trust, the assailants struck during the early hours of Tuesday at around 5:30 am, targeting worshippers during their congregational prayer.

The bandits, donning security uniforms, emerged from the Kamuku Forest while en route to the Tegina axis of Niger State.

They entered the mosque during the morning prayer and opened fire on the unsuspecting worshippers.

Tragically, the Imam and another person lost their lives in the attack, while two others sustained gunshot wounds.

The deceased victims have been identified as Mamuda ga Allah Babba and Kabiru ga Allah Babba, and the injured individuals are Bilya Mai Rabo and Ashiru Mai Rabo.

These innocent lives were taken in a community situated between Tashar Keji and Sabon Layi village of Birnin Gwari LGA.

Ishaq Kasai, the Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), confirmed the attack and described it as a tragic incident.

He revealed that villagers had reported the presence of bandits in the area, heading towards the Tegina axis, the previous night.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical attention in a hospital.

This incident follows a similar attack last month, which resulted in the deaths of nine worshippers at a mosque in the Saya Saya community of Ikara LGA.
