Imo 2023: LP Candidate Achonu Alleges Election Rigging Plot
LP's governorship election candidate in Imo state's off-cycle election, Athan Achonu, has accused his opponents of planning to make the BVAS malfunction and affect the election process
The Labour Party’s (LP) governorship candidate in the off-cycle governorship election in Imo state, Athan Achonu, has accused his opponents of a plot to rig the election.
The LP candidate made the claim earlier today while addressing journalists in Owerri, the state capital.
Achonu proclaimed that there is a plot to make sure that BVAS malfunctions in some polling units across the state. He declared that the purpose of the plot was either to produce a falsified result or to disrupt the voting process in certain areas where the riggers do not have a strong presence.
According to his Director of Media and Publicity, Chibuikem Diala, Achonu appealed to the Resident Electoral Commissioners, REC to stop the so-called changing of BVAS passwords by the Registration Area Technical Support.
He asserted that the plot by officials on the night of the previous day was aimed at affecting and influencing the election process.
