The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a new development in the ongoing recall process of the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Commission confirmed receiving the missing contact details from the petitioners seeking the recall.
These details, which include the representatives’ address, phone numbers, and email contacts, were submitted in a letter addressed to INEC’s Chairman.
This update follows the previous day’s statement, in which INEC raised concerns about incomplete contact information in the original submission.
With this issue now resolved, the Commission has sent an official notification to the senator being recalled. A copy of the notification has also been sent to the presiding officer of the Senate and published on INEC’s website.
According to the Commission’s guidelines, the next stage involves verifying the list of signatories attached to the petition.
INEC will check to confirm that over half of the registered voters in the constituency—more than 50%—actually signed the petition.
This verification process is expected to take place in the coming days.
INEC assured the public that every stage of the process will remain transparent and in line with legal procedures.
