Kebbi State governor declares Friday public holiday


The Kebbi State government has declared today, Friday, August 30, 2024, a public holiday.

This announcement was made in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Establishment, Pension and Training, Hon. Auwal Manu-Dogondaji, and issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

According to the statement sighted by Dockaysworld, the state governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), approved the public holiday to enable the electorate to prepare themselves for the forthcoming local government elections slated for Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The government’s decision to declare a public holiday is aimed at giving citizens the opportunity to prepare themselves for the elections and exercise their franchise.

“Therefore, we are calling on civil servants, as well as the entire members of the public to come out en masse and exercise their rights,” the commissioner said.

While calling on citizens to sustain the prevailing peace in the state, the commissioner also urged the electorate to maintain a high sense of decorum during and after the polls.
