Kwara governor reacts to death of monarch

Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has vowed to get justice for the slain monarch, Peter Aremu.


Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has reacted to the death of Onikoro of Koro-Ekiti in Ekiti LGA of Kwara state, Peter Aremu.

The monarch was killed by gunmen on Thursday morning after his residence was invaded.

His wife and two others were also kidnapped.

In a statement, Rafiu Ajakaye, chief press secretary to the governor, said Abdulrazaq described the incident as “reckless, shocking, and abominable”.

The governor asked security operatives to track the perpetrators, rescue the abducted persons, and bring them to justice.

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” the governor was quoted as saying.

“My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”

Recall that on January 29, two traditional rulers were killed by suspected kidnappers in Ekiti state.
