Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have arrived at the State High Court in Ikeja for a hearing on a case filed by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Obasa is challenging his removal from office by 36 lawmakers on January 13, 2025, over allegations of misconduct and abuse of power.
The case also involves Princess Mojisola Meranda, who was initially elected as his replacement but later stepped down in deference to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, allowing for Obasa’s reinstatement.
At the previous court session on February 20, 2025, several senior lawyers represented the different parties involved, including Afolabi Fashanu (for Obasa) and Femi Falana, Muiz Banire, and others (for the 34 lawmakers).
Additional legal teams represented other House members and Meranda.
Justice Yetunde Pinheiro has ordered that all Lagos Assembly members be included in the case and adjourned proceedings to March 7, 2025, to hear pending preliminary objections.
