Lagos Shut Eight-Storey Ikoyi Building, Threatens Demolition

The Lagos State Government has shut down an eight-storey building owned by Mikano Company over indifference to order earlier issued to stop further construction on the site.

The Lagos State government has sealed an eight-floor building by Mikano Company after the enterprise refused to heed to the order issued to stop further construction on the site.

In a statement issued on Monday, it was disclosed that the development was in continuation of the state government’s efforts to improve the built sector, especially at the waterfront areas.

The government also threatens to demolish the building if the necessary actions are not taken.

The building situated at Queens’ Drive in Ikoyi, which is currently under construction was sealed during a joint inspection by the Commissioners for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Ekundayo Alebiosu and Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Olumide Olayinka.

The commisioners expressed their dissatisfaction at the indifference for the order issued earlier on the company to stop further construction until it comes up with its documents, stating that it is not true that the government is ignoring these misconducts because of the people involved.
