The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has arrived at the Nigerian Airforce wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The remains, which were received by soldiers of the Guards Brigade, arrived at precisely 9 am.
These soldiers are set to pay their final respects to the late military leader, who passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 56.
The body will soon be airlifted to Abuja, where the late COAS will be honoured.
A service of songs will be held on Thursday evening at the Army Headquarters’ Garrison Parade Ground in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.
This will be followed by a funeral service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Friday, after which Lt. Gen. Lagbaja will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery.
In a statement, President Bola Tinubu confirmed that the late military leader will be given a state burial in recognition of his service to the nation.
