Let No Artificial or illegal deadline threaten you – Gov El-Rufai tells Residents as he Dares Buhari over Naira Notes Swap [video]


The Governor of Kaduna state Nasir El-Rufai has seemingly dared the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s extension of the validity of the 200 notes only.

According to the Governor who took the President and the federal government to court over the matter, his residents shouldn’t be worried as any deadline was illegal and artificial even though said deadline came from the President himself.

El-Rufai told the residents that their notes remain valid and that the law was behind them following the ruling by the Supreme Court.

He said:

The Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007 and the Bills of Exchange Act, both oblige the CBN to recognise your old notes and give you value in new notes whenever you bring them to the CBN, even in the next 100 years.”
