President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday made adjustments to his ministerial team, leading to the dismissal of five ministers, appointment of seven new ones and the redeployment of ten others.
This cabinet shake-up comes amid growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians over the government’s handling of economic challenges, inflation, and security concerns.
Despite the shake-up, 29 ministers were not affected; they were not sacked or redeployed.
They are:
1. Adebayo Adelabu – Minister of Power
2. Mohammed Badaru – Minister of Defence
3. Bello Matawalle – Minister of State, Defence
4. Ahmed M. Dangiwa – Minister of Housing & Urban Development
5. Atiku Bagudu – Minister of Budget & Economic Planning
6. Joseph Utsev – Minister of Water Resources & Sanitation
7. Ibrahim Geidam – Minister of Police Affairs
8. Shuaibu A. Audu – Minister of Steel Development
9. Nyesom Wike – Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
10. Sa’idu Alkali – Minister of Transportation
11. Ekperipe Ekpo – Minister of State (Gas) Petroleum Resources
12. Balarabe Abbas Lawal – Minister of Environment
13. Abubakar Kyari – Minister of Agriculture and Food Security
14. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi – Minister of State, Agriculture and Food Security
15. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo – Minister of Interior
16. Yusuf M. Tuggar – Minister of Foreign Affairs
17. Ali Pate – Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare
18. Festus Keyamo – Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development
19. David Umahi – Minister of Works
20. Heineken Lokpobiri – Minister of State (Oil) Petroleum Resources
21. Uche Nnaji – Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology
22. Dele Alake – Minister of Solid Minerals Development
23. Muhammed Idris – Minister of Information and National Orientation
24. Lateef Fagbemi – Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice
25. Nkiruka Onyejeocha – Minister of State, Labour and Employment
26. Zephaniah Jisalo – Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs
27. Bosun Tijani – Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy
28. Wale Edun – Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy
29. Adegboyega Oyetola – Minister of Marine and Blue Economy
Ministers that did not survive and were sacked;
Women Affairs Minister, Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye; Tourism Minister, Lola Ade-John; Education Minister, Prof. Tahir Mamman; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Youth Development Minister, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim and suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Betta Edu.
President Tinubu also appointed new Ministers;
Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs; Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development and Dr Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State, Education.
President Tinubu also changed the portfolios of ten other ministers.
