The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared ‘no resumption, no election’ as ASUU strike continues.
The student association who had made the news for promising President Buhari, 20 million votes have now announced that if the strike is not called off before the election, students will not participate.
The announcement was released on the official Twitter account of the student association. The association narrated the progress of the strike that began in November 2018 and stated the need for students to protest their disenfranchisement by not participating in the coming elections.
The statement read in part:
“We wish to inform the general public that Nigerian students would resist any election conducted in any part of the country should our campuses remain shut till election day
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has reacted to the move. They replied via their Twitter handle.
The union said:
“What an elder sees sitting, a child cannot see, even if he climbs an Iroko tree”
NANS hit back at ASUU saying:
“Call off the strike ‘elders’”
