Suspended Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central), has stated that she will not apologize to the Senate or its President, Godswill Akpabio, for speaking what she calls “her truth.”
In a statement on Monday titled “Re: purported apology to the Senate over my sexual allegations claim against Senate President Godswill Akpabio,” Akpoti-Uduaghan described her six-month suspension as political victimization.
She insisted that no amount of pressure would silence her.
“I, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stand firm in my resolve to never apologise for speaking my truth. The desperation to silence me is palpable, but I will not be intimidated. The games being played in full view of the Nigerian people will be exposed, and the corrupt individuals who have hijacked our institutions will be held accountable,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan spoke on her responsibility as a senator to represent her constituents and uphold justice and transparency.
She stated that her allegations against Senate President Akpabio were serious and that she would continue to pursue justice despite the consequences.
She dismissed reports claiming she had apologized to the Senate, calling them false.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to fighting for the rights of Nigerian women and ensuring their voices are heard.
“My six-month suspension is a clear case of political victimisation, but I will not be deterred. I will continue to fight for the rights of Nigerian women and ensure that our voices are heard,” she added.
The senator urged the public to disregard reports suggesting she had apologized and vowed to keep speaking out, even in the face of adversity.
