The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has announced his intention to disclose the truth about the company’s operations at an appropriate time.
Kyari made this statement on Wednesday during his testimony before a Senate ad-hoc committee investigating alleged economic sabotage within the petroleum industry.
The committee, led by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, is examining the activities of the NNPCL amidst growing controversy and public scrutiny.
Kyari denied any involvement in the importation of sub-standard petroleum products, saying that NNPCL is commitment to transparency and integrity.
He expressed frustration over what he perceives as unfair media attacks targeted at damaging the company’s reputation and tagging it as economic sabotage.
“We are not criminals, we are not thieves. We will protect our dignity so we can serve this country.”
Kyari also revealed that the oil and gas industry is bleeding, hinting at undisclosed issues which “they” knew that cannot be made public “until the time comes.”
