The late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has been buried in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The monarch who passed away at 81 years old following a brief illness was buried according to Islamic rites at about 4:30pm today, Friday.
Residents of the state trooped out in numbers to bid the traditional ruler farewell with many paying condolences and celebrating his life on earth.
The remains of the Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, was interred at his Aliiwo ancestral home and the event was graced by the state deputy governor, Bayo Lawal, who led other government functionaries there.
There was a lying-in-state at Mapo Hall from 12 noon to 1pm before the remains of the monarch were moved to Aliwo for burial after prayers.
Speculations have already begun about the next person to fill the role using the traditional rites and processes.
