Nigerians have began to call for justice after a man identified as Mr Confidence Amatobi, assaulted his 2 month old baby, Miracle, to the point of breaking his hand for reportedly disturbing his sleep in Imo State.
It’s was learnt that Mr Amatobi brutalized the little child with a plastic hanger for interrupting his sleep.
The sad incident led to the amputation of the gangrenous fractured arm of the baby at the Pediatrics ward of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Owerri, Dockaysworld gathered.
The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State chapter, made the revelation after speaking with the aggrieved mother of the child, one Mrs Favour Chikwe who is 20 years old.
Narrating her plight, the mother who hails form Idemili Community, Anambra State disclosed that she had left the child with his father on Friday, October 7, 2022, to use the restroom, when the sad incident occurred.
Mrs Favour recalled that she overheard her baby crying profusely and quickly rushed to see what they problem was, on getting back to the room, she discover that miracle’s right hand was swollen and bone broken from the beating he received from his father.
“Upon noticing that he has broken the baby’s hand, he used sticks and rubber bands to bind the broken bones together,” she said.
“When l confronted him about what he did, he locked us in the room, to prevent me from telling people about his wicked deed or seek for help. He also collected my phone from me so that I will not call the neighbours.”
She was however able to take the baby to FMC Owerri where the amputation was done after initially visiting local clinics who refused to treat the child.
The mother appealed for support to save her child while calling on the state government, NHRC and other relevant agencies to assist her in getting justice for her son miracle.
