Over 1500 sacked employees stage protest at hospital

Disgruntled Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) staff staged a protest at the hospital premises on Friday, expressing dissatisfaction with the management’s refusal to rescind their termination.

Over 1500 employees were let go by the Federal Government due to alleged recruitment irregularities.

The protesters objected to a management circular announcing examinations for potential hires, blocking hospital gates and demanding the suspension of the tests.

Despite this, OAUTHC’s Public Relations Officer, Miss Kemi Fasoto, affirmed that the scheduled examinations by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare would proceed as planned.
