Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended cryptocurrency billionaire Linus Williams, widely known as B-Lord.
BLord was detained in Abuja on Tuesday amid accusations of cryptocurrency fraud, funding terrorism, and assisting internet fraud, among other charges directed at his companies.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, confirmed in an interview that Williams was arrested following multiple complaints against his businesses.
Adejobi stated, “Yes, he is in our custody. The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating the complaints against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology.
“These allegations include cryptocurrency fraud, facilitating internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism financing, and failure to comply with regulatory standards.
“We will conduct a thorough investigation. Ensuring the safety and security of our cyberspace is a priority for us, and we are committed to this goal.”
Adejobi also refuted claims that the arrest was prompted by a petition from Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.
