The Lagos State Police has provided clarity on the recently announced movement restrictions by Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
The restriction, issued for Saturday, February 3, as part of measures for bye and run-off elections in 26 states, including Lagos, had left Lagosians questioning whether it is for the whole state.
To address the concerns, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a tweet on Friday morning said the restriction is only applicable to the election area which is Surulere.
He wrote:
“CLARIFICATION: In the forthcoming bye-election in Lagos State, restriction of movement is applicable only in the election area, Surulere Federal Constituency I. There is no restriction of movement in other parts of the state.”
