The Rivers state Police Command has arrested a PDP House of Representatives member Chinyere Igwe, with about $500,000 in cash.
The command made this known via its official Twitter page as it revealed the arrest took place at 2:45 in the early hours of the morning.
The PDP candidate who’s representing the Port Harcourt Il Federal Constituency was caught in a routine stop and search where the money was stashed in his car.
The police urged all political contestants to abide by the rules of the election and avoid contravening the electoral act.

24/2/2023 at about 0245hrs, while on stop and search, arrested one Hon Chinyere Igwe, member House of Representatives representing Port Harcourt Il Federal Constituency with a cash sum of 498,100 USD inside a bag in his car.
Also recovered was a list for distribution of the money.
The AIG Election, AIG Abutu Yaro fdc has ordered swift interrogation and arraignment in court.
The Command urges all contestants and political parties to comply strictly with provisions of the Electoral Act and other relevant laws.
