The Kaduna State Police Command has denied allegations made by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai that his former commissioner, Malam Jafaru Sani, was abducted by a police-run “kidnapping gang.”
El-Rufai claimed that Jafaru was imprisoned by a magistrate without any formal police report or charges from the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice.
However, in a statement released by the police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the command dismissed the allegations as “frivolous” and “malicious.”
The police clarified that they operate strictly within the law and have the constitutional authority to arrest and investigate suspects.
They also stated that there is no “kidnapping gang” within the Nigerian Police Force, as El-Rufai alleged.
The police urged the public, particularly former officials, to refrain from making baseless accusations that could undermine security agencies.
They advised anyone with grievances to seek legal action instead of making inflammatory statements that could create unnecessary tension.
