The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that gunmen attacked the family house of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba Community, located in Okehi Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, said the attack happened on Tuesday night, and although no one has been arrested yet, investigations have begun, and the police are determined to find those responsible.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the attackers likely thought she was in town when they struck.
Fortunately, no one was injured, as security officers and community members quickly responded and scared the attackers away.
A police report was immediately filed.
Her media team described the incident as a deliberate attempt to silence her and urged the Inspector-General of Police to reinstate her security detail.
They condemned the violent act and called on the public to stay calm, stating that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and representing her constituents should not be met with threats or intimidation.
