The Nigeria Police Force has officially withdrawn the defamation charge filed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun against Lagos-based lawyer and author Dele Farotimi.
A notice of discontinuance, dated January 29 and filed under Section 108 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, was sighted by Channels Television.
The document, signed by police prosecutor Samson Osubu, requests the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti to strike out the case following the intervention of prominent Nigerians, including legal icon Are Afe Babalola.
