A popular actor who is widely known for star roles in Bollywood identified as Saif Ali Khan has been hospitalized with multiple stab wounds following a violent altercation with an intruder at his residence.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday at Khan’s upscale home in Mumbai, where he resides with his family.
Reports from Mumbai Police indicate that an unidentified individual broke into the actor’s residence shortly after midnight.
A confrontation ensued between Khan and the intruder, during which the actor sustained several injuries.
The Bollywood actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery.
Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s chief operating officer, confirmed that the actor suffered six stab wounds, two of which are severe.
“One of the injuries is dangerously close to the spine. A team of specialist doctors is performing surgery to address the wounds,” Uttamani stated.
While Khan’s family has yet to make a public statement, his publicity team has described the incident as an “attempted burglary.” However, they refrained from disclosing additional details.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam provided an official statement, saying, “An unknown person entered the actor’s house, leading to an argument and subsequent attack.”
