Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has publicly criticized Osun State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba, over alleged political unrest in the state.
In a recent Instagram post, Davido shared a photo of CP Abba, urging him to uphold the rule of law and expressing deep frustration over the current situation.
He warned the commissioner not to provoke him further, vowing to post about him daily if necessary.
This outburst follows claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that former Minister Gboyega Oyetola is attempting to incite chaos in Osun State by trying to reinstate sacked local council chairmen.
Davido, who has strong ties to Osun State as a native and a member of the influential Adeleke family, has previously used his platform to speak on political and social issues affecting the state.
CP Mohammed Umar Abba, born on June 22, 1965, in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State, assumed his role as Osun State’s Commissioner of Police on February 16, 2024.
A graduate of Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano, he was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Throughout his career, Abba has served in various capacities across different states and was the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from July 2020 to February 2021.

As of now, neither CP Mohammed Umar Abba nor the Osun State Police Command has issued an official response to Davido’s claims.
