Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, was present at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held today, April 24, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The NEC meeting was chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima and attended by several governors and deputy governors, including those from Delta, Benue, Kwara, Edo, and Cross River States.
Ibas’s participation in the high-level meeting marks his first NEC appearance since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in March, following the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
That declaration led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the state House of Assembly, due to rising political instability and security challenges.
Since taking office, Ibas has promised to restore order and ensure the effective governance of Rivers State.
His presence at today’s NEC gathering signals the federal government’s intention to fully involve the Sole Administrator in national economic deliberations.
