The WhatsApp account of Professor Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education, has been compromised by hackers.
This information was shared in a statement by Boriowo Folasade, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education on Friday.
The ministry alerted the public that unauthorized individuals have gained access to the Minister’s account, prompting a warning for vigilance against any unusual communications from that number.
In light of this, the public is advised to ignore any requests or messages originating from the hacked account until further notice.
The ministry expressed regret over the situation and urged everyone to stay alert for any suspicious activities related to the compromised number.
The statement read:
“The Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, wishes to inform the general public that the Minister’s WhatsApp number has been hacked and is currently being used by unauthorised individuals.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and urge everyone to disregard any message of request received from the said number until further notice.
“The matter has been reported to the relevant authorities and is under investigation. We advise all members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”
