Senator Sumaila Officially Confirms Dumping NNPP

Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South Senatorial District, has officially announced that he is no longer a member of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).

He made this known through a post on his Facebook page and later confirmed it via text message, stating that his decision was made with the best interests of his constituents in mind.

He said that politics should be about serving the people, and his focus remains on improving the lives of those he represents.

Although he hasn’t revealed which political party he plans to join next, his defection is considered a major development in Kano’s political scene, where changes like this can signal larger shifts in party power and future elections.

It’s also worth noting that Sumaila, along with Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Ali Madakin Gini, was recently suspended by the NNPP under the leadership of Rabiu Kwankwaso.

However, they rejected the suspension, claiming they don’t belong to the faction that issued it.
