A young student in Lagos state, identified as Marvelous Barinaadaa, has reportedly been sent home from school for wrapping her books with posters of 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi Gregory.
The news broke on social media with the parent of the child reported starting when and where the incident occurred.
The statement reads;
This is to inform you all, that my Daughter Marvelous Barinaadaa, was Exit from Odomola Secondary school today 14th March, 2023.

Meanwhile the Lagos state government has reacted to the matter and pledged to sanction the erring teacher.
The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, who announced the measure on Wednesday, said the governor has approved the recall of the principal, who will be asked to explain the incident.
“The Lagos State Government, the Ministry of Education and all its agencies will never instruct any school principal, personnel or teacher to act in such a manner,” Adefisayo stated.
The commissioner reassured the public that “the matter would be dealt with within the scope of our strict regulations as the reason for sending home the student is unacceptable – if true.“
Reno Omokri while reacting to the issue said:
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a school sending a child home for bringing Peter Obi paraphernalia to school. It is not an act of tribalism by Yorubas or APC against other ethnicities, as Obidients are painting it. Her parents showed irresponsibility. Public schools funded with taxpayer funds are meant to be neutral in politics. This is not just the law, it is also the norm worldwide. If a child brings Trump campaign material to an American public elementary school, he would also be sent home. The act can lead to a breakdown in discipline in the school. It is the same reason public schools are not allowed to promote one religion over another.
By the way, what sort of parent gives a child political campaign material to take to school? Some people have no sense of decency and ethics.
