The Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Katsina State, Alhaji Amadu Surajo, has been killed by gunmen.
The attack happened late Saturday night in Mai Rana village, Kusada Local Government Area.
Three other people lost their lives, and several were injured during the attack.
The gunmen also kidnapped Surajo’s two wives and a daughter, who is a university student.
One of the wives was later released.
Before becoming Acting Chairman, Surajo was the State Secretary of MACBAN.
He took over after the former chairman, Munnir Lamido, went missing last year under unclear circumstances.
Security forces have been sent to the area to investigate and maintain peace.
The victims will be buried according to Islamic traditions, while the injured are receiving treatment.
