Recall that Nasir El-Rufai withdrew his nomination to serve as a minister in President Tinubu’s government.
Instead, El-Rufai recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, a former commissioner in Kaduna State, as his replacement.
Reports said that El-Rufai assured Tinubu of his commitment to national development as a private citizen despite stepping back from the ministerial nomination.
The Senate had also delayed the confirmation of El-Rufai over security concerns.
