Tinubu reacts after Southeast nominee rejected CBN appointment


President Bola Tinubu has swiftly announced a replacement for the nominee from the Southeast region who rejected the appointment to the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This decision by Tinubu comes after the original nominee, Mr. Kalu Eke, expressed his unavailability for the position.

Tinubu’s announcement was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session, urging the Senate to confirm the new nominee swiftly.

The replacement nominee, Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe, has been put forward by President Tinubu for consideration by the Senate.

In his letter, President Tinubu stated, “I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).”

He further added, “The Senate is invited to kindly note that Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe is a replacement for Mr. Kalu Eke, due to the unavailability of Mr. Eke for the position.”

President Tinubu expressed hope that the Senate would consider and confirm Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe’s appointment in its usual expeditious manner.
