Two tragic cases of domestic violence have occurred in Ogun State, where two men allegedly stabbed their wives to death in separate incidents.
The first incident happened in the early hours of Thursday in the Agbure Community, Ogun Waterside.
A 36-year-old woman, Josephine Isaac, was reportedly stabbed multiple times by her husband, identified as Oju, during a heated argument.
After attacking her, he fled the scene, leaving her critically injured. Concerned residents rushed Josephine to Ibiade General Hospital, but she did not survive.
The police confirmed the incident after receiving a report from Josephine’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is still on the run.
In another case, a 26-year-old man, Adikpe Stephen, allegedly killed his 30-year-old wife, Adikpe Favour, by stabbing her in the chest and left hand with a kitchen knife.
The attack took place around 10 a.m. on Wednesday in Konigbagbe Village, along the Sagamu/Ogijo expressway. The suspect then fled, leaving his wife’s body behind.
The crime was reported by Stephen’s elder brother, Adikpe Friday, who discovered Favour’s body in a pool of blood.
According to the police, Stephen has a history of mental health issues and had previously received treatment at a psychiatric hospital.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the killings and urged couples to seek peaceful ways to resolve conflicts instead of resorting to violence.
He also encouraged victims of domestic abuse to speak out and seek help from authorities.
Police investigations into both cases are ongoing, and efforts to locate the fleeing suspects continue.
