A veteran Nigerian actress identified as Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, has died in her sleep.
Daso who is popular for acting in most Kannywood films passed away in the early hours of Tuesday after the midnight meal before the commencement of the day’s Ramadan fast (Sahur), Leadership News reports.
For more than 18 years, Daso played a significant role in the Hausa film sector, captivating audiences in the Northern region with her exceptional acting skills and diverse characters.
Before achieving fame in acting, Saratu dedicated herself to teaching.
She made her debut in 2000 in a movie titled Linzami Da Wuta, produced by Sarauniya Movies.
Other hits that led to the late actress’s stardom include Nagari, Gidauniya, Mashi, and Sansani followed.
Her demise has left fans and colleagues, mourning with tributes pouring in from various quarters.
She will be buried by 4pm today according to Islamic rites.
She is survived by her husband and children.
