Nigeria Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, has revealed that she is determined to seek justice for the late Greatness Olorunfemi, who tragically lost her life after being pushed out of a moving vehicle.

Expressing her dismay over the actions of a hospital in Abuja, which allegedly turned away the dying victim of a violent ‘one chance’ attack, Kennedy made an unannounced visit to the hospital in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Kennedy firmly asserted that this incident cannot be ignored, stating,

During my surprise visit to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital, I made it clear that a follow-up is imperative on this matter.

She pointed out the recurring issue of individuals with emergency cases being denied medical attention, often resulting in tragic outcomes, emphasizing the need to protect the lives of women and children at all costs.

The Minister stressed,

The deceased wasn’t just a daughter; she was also a citizen of our dear country, Nigeria, and she was entitled to the protection of her fundamental human rights.

During her visit, Kennedy met with the Matron in charge of the Accident and Emergency Unit, Mrs. Habiba Musa, who claimed that the deceased was brought in dead on Thursday, September 26th, and was not denied medical attention.

Musa explained that the victim had no pulse, and her heart had stopped when she arrived at the hospital.

However, Kennedy remained unconvinced by this explanation and requested a meeting with the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Igbinovia Imuentien.

She was informed that Dr. Imuentien had gone for a meeting, but undeterred, she learned of an independent panel of investigation sitting at the Health Secretariat and promptly moved to the venue of the inquiry.
