The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied reports that he collapsed, dismissing the rumours as baseless.
The rumours which emerged last week claimed that Wike suffered a partial stroke due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Speaking out on the matter, Wike said that while health issues can affect anyone, he has not experienced any collapse as claimed by some individuals.
He declared that he is fit and healthy.
Wike explained that the recent incident involving a former head of service of Rivers State, and the alleged plan to bomb the House of Assembly complex and attack national assets, was the real reason for the attention drawn to him.
He stated that in an effort to divert public focus from these serious issues, the introduction of health rumours, such as his alleged collapse, was strategically used.
Addressing the public, Wike expressed gratitude for the concern shown by Nigerians, but urged people not to wish ill upon others.
He reminded everyone that while death is inevitable, only God has the authority to determine when someone’s time will come.
He also reaffirmed that he remains focused on his duties and is not distracted by the false narratives circulating.
